The Robert and Eleanor Franke Charitable Foundation announced earlier this year that it will dissolve effective June 30, 2018. With the dissolution, a new fund will be created at La Crosse Community Foundation to continue Robert & Eleanor Franke’s charitable giving legacy here in La Crosse.

The new fund – formally being named the Robert & Eleanor Franke Charitable Fund – will continue to award grants under the same competitive grant-making priorities of the original Franke Foundation, which is “for the purposes of governmental, charitable, humane, educational, medical and scientific achievement within the doctrines of the Catholic Church.” The Franke’s were particularly interested in programs that helped individuals meet their basic needs.

The Franke Fund will have four grant-making rounds annually with deadlines being January 15, April 15, July 15, and October 15. Applications will be submitted online through the Foundation’s grant portal. Jamie Schloegel will assume responsibility for facilitating requests to the Franke Fund. Don’t hesitate to contact her with any questions at jamie@laxcommfoundation.com. Directions for applying, eligibility criteria, and other information is posted on our website.
