Cameron Park Farmer’s Market Grant

A year ago, in the midst of heightening concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic, the Cameron Park Farmer’s Market was trying to figure out how they could safely open with adherence to all the new safety standards to ensure a safe market  for customer and vendors.

Budgeting ahead for a possible pandemic some day isn’t something nonprofits and businesses typically do, so when faced with a growing list of expenses related to necessary safety measures, the market organizers reached out for help.

Making the farmer’s market safe

A $3,000 grant was awarded to help the farmer’s market coordinate pre-orders for curbside pick-ups, purchase safety signage, and purchase and offer other safety supplies like handwashing stations.

Despite creatively adjusting market service delivery to accommodate safety protocols, the farmer’s market experienced less shoppers in 2020 than in previous years.
