Tina (Garves) Schwier passed away in May 2018 after a long battle with breast cancer. This fund was established as a tribute to her by Dale Walter, a friend and colleague with whom she worked for more than 15 years. Others have given to the fund in Tina’s memory, including a generous gift from Bremer Bank where Tina worked.

Tina was born and raised in La Crosse and was living in Galesville when she passed. She is greatly missed by all, especially her husband Tony and their two sons Aidan and Ethan. Those who knew her best describe her as a loving wife and mother who always put others above herself and someone who would do anything to help anybody in need.

“One would be hard-pressed to find a more positive and caring individual than Tina. She was adored by her family and business associates alike. We thought it would be fitting to provide a lasting memory of Tina through a scholarship fund managed by the La Crosse Community Foundation. With the organizational resources to administer the scholarship process, they were a perfect choice. We hope others will contribute to Tina’s memory through the La Crosse Community Foundation and consider a similar arrangement for their loved ones,” expressed Dale Walter

To commemorate Tina’s life and spirit, the fund will provide scholarships to area students pursuing a finance-related degree; more importantly, those selected must also have a demonstrated history of kindness and willingness to help others, just like Tina did.
