Community Conversations: Gun Violence Prevention: Dispelling Myths, Understanding Science, Strengthening Prevention Programs and Policies

Our speaker will be Dr. Stephen Hargarten of the Medical College of Wisconsin. Dr. Hargarten has been an active emergency medicine practitioner, injury control researcher, and educator for nearly 40 years. His roles as Professor and Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine and Director of the Comprehensive Injury Center have uniquely positioned him to advance the science of injury and violence prevention and control at the Medical College of Wisconsin.

Gun Violence is a major health/public health burden in our communities across Wisconsin.
Injury Science is critical to dispel myths, advance our understanding, and develop comprehensive strategies to prevent injuries and deaths. All sectors of civil society need to convene and rationally discuss this challenging burden, just like we do for other diseases such as cancer and heart disease.
