A collaboration between La Crosse’s three higher education institutions and local partners, the Facing Homelessness project seeks to identify, listen to, learn from, and elevate the voices of our neighbors who have or are currently experiencing homelessness.  The Facing Homelessness in La Crosse project encourages mutual vulnerability, empathy, and trust and connects project members human to human. The stories of our neighbors were respectfully collected by Western Technical College students, published into stories by University of Wisconsin-La Crosse students, and will be brought to life on stage by Viterbo University students. The stars of the project, however, are the nine brave storytellers who lived the experience and are willing to talk about it/willing to share it.  This  devised theatre piece will be created and produced by Viterbo theatre students in collaboration with professors David Gardiner and Jeff Stolz. The performance will include spoken word, scripted scenes, and multimedia pieces using visual projections and live music.  The performances will be free and open to all members of the community.

Sponsoring groups: Couleecap, La Crosse Collaborative to End Homelessness, UnitedHealthcare Community Plan, University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, Viterbo University, and Western Technical College.
