LCF is now offering board member training and matching!

LCF’s new Board Member Training and Matching Program recruits board members for La Crosse area nonprofit organizations as well as provides training on the fundamentals of board governance. It is designed to engage, educate, and prepare participants to meet the critical need for nonprofit board member growth and diversity throughout the community.

All nonprofits must have an independent board of directors governing the organization’s operations to maintain public charity status. Yet recruiting board members who are engaged and fully aware of their duties and responsibilities can be a challenge.

At LCF we know our community is rich with talented individuals ready and willing to serve, but many individuals think they aren’t eligible or don’t know how to approach an organization. Nonprofit board service is a great way to use professional and personal experiences to fuel the effectiveness of nonprofits. Behind every high functioning, healthy, successful nonprofit is an engaged, active board.

How will it work?

  • Individuals looking to join a nonprofit board can view on our website a list of nonprofits seeking board members
  • Nonprofits looking for board members can post their information on our website
  • LCF will help match the board member candidates with the nonprofits they select
  • Candidates seeking board governance training can register for upcoming Fundamentals of Nonprofit Board Governance training sessions

Who should participate in the training?

  • Aspiring board members — community members who are active nonprofit volunteers and/or currently seated on a nonprofit committee
  • New board members — newly-seated board members who are in their first term on a board
  • Experienced board members — seasoned board members looking to revitalize and strengthen their competencies in board service
